Environmental Management Systems

An EMS is a framework that helps an organization in reducing its environmental impacts. Set of processes & practices that enable an organization to reduce its environmental impacts & increase its operating efficiency. Framework that helps an organization achieves its environmental goals through consistent review, evaluation, & improvement of its environmental performance. The assumption is that this consistent review & evaluation will identify opportunities for improving & implementing the environmental performance of the organization.

An EMS helps an organization address its regulatory demands in a systematic & cost-effective manner. This proactive approach can help reduce the risk of non-compliance & improve health & safety practices for employees & the public. An EMS can also help address non-regulated issues, such as energy conservation, & can promote stronger operational control & employee stewardship.
